The Columbia Museum of Art celebrates outstanding artistic creativity through its collection, exhibitions and programs, interacting in ways that engage the mind and enrich the spirit.
South Carolina's premier international art museum houses a world class collection of European and American fine and decorative art that spans centuries. In recent years, the Museum's collection of Asian art and Antiquities has grown through generous gifts to the collection. Founded in 1950, the museum opened its new building on Main Street in 1998 by transforming an urban department store into a sleek and airy, light-filled space with 25 galleries. The collections include masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and Baroque from the Samuel H. Kress Collection, works by significant furniture and silver makers, as well as modern and contemporary art from the present time. Of particular interest are Sandro Botticelli's Nativity, Claude Monet's The Seine at Giverny and art glass by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The

Binder Podcast: Reframing Regeneration
Director of Art and Learning Jackie Adams returns to host an episode dedicated to the artist Darrel Ellis (1958-1992). Over the course of his career, Ellis developed a distinct studio practice that merged the formal vocabularies of drawing, photography, painting, and printmaking to redefine Black male identity and family within the constructs of art history and mainstream culture.
First, Jackie sits down with producer Drew to chat about Ellis' innovative artistic approach, drawing parallels to traditional art-making tools from the 16th Century. Then Darrel Ellis: Regeneration co-curators Antonio Sergio Bessa (The Bronx Museum of Art) and Leslie Cozzi (Baltimore Museum of Art) join Jackie to talk about the exhibition, Ellis' life and family, and the contemporary significance of his work.

I saw his exhibition at the Bronx, really moving stuff
LOL! Feeling more confident every day and noticing my anxiety dissolve until I knew I was “in control” is definitely a relief, I went with what I mentioned and a week after my paruresis was gone. I just go'ogled the latest in Beck Reznark’s guide and now I can go without even thinking about it.
SO GOOD!! 🔥. Truly enjoyed you guys at the Charleston Jazz Festival. 👍🏽
👍🏻
When I was a kid during the 80s an 90s we went to hunting Island a lot. The cabins were in the woods. There was a natural buffer of 40 feet plus the dunes an beach. There are roads in the water in that end of the island. The inland bodies of water in the picture were hundreds of yards from the coast line.
Thank you. I will be sharing this with my students!
Carnival of souls guitar would be awesome!
Milwaukee Art Museum has a lovely painting by Duncanson, "Minneopa Falls" and the figure is described a Native American. The description of the painting said he often included Native Americans in his works. There were escaped slaves that lived with Native Americans.
Who knows who metallica is?
Video content very good.
I could listen to Kirk talk all day! He's a busy man, yet takes time to do things like this, says alot about him.
That’s really awesome! Thanks. I might try that on a snowy day when I don’t want to venture outdoors.
❤thanks
Oh, how unfortunate that you can't delve into Camille Claudel's story. Why is it that no art expert seems to have time for the female victims of Rodin?
Maybe because taking a very interesting artist as Camille Claudel and focusing on her as a victim instead of studying her work is a very sexist thing to do.
That piece is phenomenal! The condition is incredible! The colours really pop.
kirk is so wholesome and encouraging at the same time. getting cooler as he gets older.
My favorite is his white zombie guitar
I wonder how many people were waiting for him to pick up that guitar and turn on that amp😮😮
Awesome exhibit!! So great to see her work up close!
'Promo SM'
I just bought the demonology ltd!
I'm loving this! Tommy Guerrero and Tom Verlaine sharing a fever dream on a desert highway.
Beautiful, my friend, Tina. xoxo
Gorgeous!!!!! And the editing was absolutely beautiful
Amazing work!
Wonderful exhibition from my favorite guitarist, I love horror movies as so much as Kirk does!
Kirk rules!!!
@@JohnnyBargeldBoom U God damn right, man!!!
Awesome exhibit! Thanks for posting! Greetz from Holland 😁👍
Thank God he didn't play..
I think someone BLACK that is Proud of our legacy SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS. Not this young white woman. It's NOT RIGHT. THIS IS VERY DISTURBING.. for me. This lady does not have a clue about BLACK BEAUTY. WE ARE HUMAN..Humanized‼️🧐😒🙄
This woman presenting his artworks is actually a good way to show society has evolved and become more inclusive. On the contrary, I think it's close-minded to want blacks to stick with blacks and whites with whites. It's completely paradoxal with the idea that everyone should respect and even admire others however they are black, white or anything else.
apparently, these posters sell up to $700,000 so, basically, finding a random one in perfection condition is pretty much finding a pot of gold just like what kirk says.
I just watched part of this video, went and watched my first classic horror film, the black cat, and then came back. I really enjoyed the film! Now I’m watching the rest of this with a little bit more understanding. ❤🧟♂️
Kind of ironic that you chose to paint Jan van Eyck Using tempera
They're some old freaks 🤣
Not, in any type of way trying to be disrespectful just curious, is Kirk's stutter natural, shyness, or because of his known history of substance abuse? Just curious.
Good Lord...have mercy!...I once was blind...not deaf!!
He seems so really unaware of his distinguished presence. ...wow!
What a profound way of comprehending the uncomprehensibility of the unseen

would love to jam with him
When I watch your video, I am so amazed to see that egg can also become an medium of art, I only think of egg as an food but now I got the idea to create a painting using a mixture of egg and water or in short "egg tempera." this is a very informative and useful video for us student to learn more about the kinds of medium's of visual arts. Thank you so much man, keep up the creativity and the good work. God bless!!
This video make me confuse and exited because all of my life i never had to see and to know that the egg yolk is possible to make an art paint . keep up and good work , and thankyou for always posting this kind of video because through this video we know how to paint using egg yolk .. your work is really appreciated!!!
I like this Medium of Art which is one of the so-called “Egg Tempera”. I never expect that this kind of art is existing and I was amazed when our instructor introduced this to us. I didn’t even expect that it was possible to make an art paint by mixing egg yolk, dry pigment, sterilized water, and a small drop of vinegar. I hope this art would have spread further because it is really amazing and I was also amazed to discover this art.
Thank you for this informative video as I have learned what a fresco painting is, which is made by putting paint on wet plaster. As the paint dries, it sinks into the plaster. It tends to be durable, yet it must be done quickly without mistakes, as the artist has only 9-12 hours to complete the painting before the plaster completely dries and hardens, so it must be done swiftly and accurately.
it is nice to do this egg tempera painting because It dries rapidly, and when dry it produces a smooth matte finish.
Great discussion
The exorcist on tv made me laugh when I was a kid. Can’t watch it as a parent 🤦🏾♀️
His new EP is classic Kirk. I damn near screamed when I heard it 😂
I used to like Vincent Price movies when I was little. Then my parents took me to a Stephen King movie…idk what it was, maybe firestarter. I was hooked on Stephen King from then on. But my very favorite is behavioral horror. The Hannibal Lecter series is right at the top. Just fascinating ❤
Awesome
